...Well, everyone, were you surprised? Did you see it? Did you hear it? Were you impressed?
When I, Anpontan Pokan, once shouted, "The brain is not where things think," the trees lost their green, and the flowers lost their color. All materialistic culture was overturned from its roots, and all psychiatry became nothing more than an armchair theory.
...I repeat.
Humanity denied God with the thinking brain. It defied nature and created materialistic culture. It eliminated human feelings and morals born from natural psychology, and came to believe in the materialistic religion of individualism. As a result, materialistic culture became increasingly nihilistic, decentralized, animalistic, self-defiling, neurasthenic, insane, and ultimately suicidal.
This was all the mischief of the "thinking brain." It was the poison of the materialistic religion that believed in the "ghost of the brain."
However, the time has come to settle this superstition. Humanity, which denied God, is now driven to the point where it must deny the "thinking brain." A wonderful era has arrived, returning from the unnaturalness of materialistic science to the naturalness of idealistic science.
That is why I, Anpontan Pokan, have demonstrated by smashing my own "thinking brain" to the ground, just as you see.
And here, I will crush it.
...Eih...Uhm...
× × ×
...Well then...
Ahahahahahahaha... How about that, are you surprised? ...Did you see it? Did you hear it? Are you impressed?
This is what I call the factual novel of the absolute scientific detective. It is a progress report of Dr. Anpontan Pokan, the super-cerebral young master detective, chasing his own brain, grasping the beauty of things, smashing it to the ground, and giving it its last rites. It is the decomposition formula of the higher-order equation of the world's finest scientific romance, "Brain-Brain."
So, if you truly have the intellect to appreciate the cleverness of this novel's trick... you'll understand the horror of that paper, "The Dream of the Fetus," which I lent you the other day. You'll grasp the principle that governs the magnificent, great nightmare the fetus experiences within its mother's womb. You'll comprehend the content of the liberation therapy that experiments with this astonishing principle, the true identity of the imbecilic Dr. Pokan confined there, and his terrifying background, all as clearly as if you held them in your hand.
Furthermore, as an added bonus... if you thoroughly pursue the conventional idea that "the brain thinks," you'll arrive at the conclusion that "the brain is not the place where thinking occurs"... you'll understand this fact. And if you further pursue "not the place where thinking occurs," you'll eventually return to the initial "place where thinking occurs," understanding even my unique, strange, and mysterious psychoscientific principle. If you've realized this, I'd like a round of applause...
...What is it? My vision is blurring...
Ahahahahaha... Of course it's blurring. Most people get dizzy when they hear my fiery spirit...
...Wh-what? No, that's not it. You're saying I'm dizzy from the cigar?...
Ah-hah-hah-hah-hah... That's hilarious.
Wah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah-hah. (Attributed to: Reporter)
The Dream of the Fetus
—The human fetus represents all other animal and plant embryos.
—Notes and explanations regarding religion, science, art, and other infinitely broad investigations, citations, and literature are omitted or kept to an extreme summary.
The human fetus dreams a single dream during its ten months in the mother's womb.
That dream is like a continuous film of terrifying length, spanning hundreds of millions or even tens of billions of years, which could be called "the live broadcast of universal evolution," directed by the fetus itself as the protagonist. In other words, the film begins with the living conditions of the primordial single-celled microorganism, the fetus's oldest ancestor, and gradually depicts the process by which that single-celled protagonist evolves into a human form, namely the fetus's own form. It is a magnificent, transcendent, and bizarre film that portrays the disasters, hardships, and difficulties experienced from astonishing cataclysms, natural selection, and the struggle for survival over an unimaginably long period, as the direct subjective experience of the fetus itself. ...It goes without saying that within it, prehistoric monstrous animals and plants that have already become fossils, and the grand scenes of cataclysms that annihilated such animals and plants, are depicted with a sense of reality. Subsequently, it must be a great nightmare filled with astonishment and terror, depicting the countless sins committed by successive ancestors, from the primitive humans who survived and evolved through those cataclysms, to the direct parents of the current fetus, driven by intense struggles for survival and various desires, as the actual deeds of the fetus itself. This will be directly and indirectly proven by solving the two great mysterious phenomena concerning "embryology" and "dreams," which will be discussed next.
First, when a human fetus is conceived in the mother's womb, its initial form is a single round cell, just like the primordial animal that is the common ancestor of all living things.
Soon after that single round cell is conceived in the mother's womb, it divides and multiplies into two cells, left and right. And they remain closely attached, still forming a single organism.
These two left and right cells eventually divide and multiply again, each into two, upper and lower. And again, all four remain closely attached, taking nourishment from the mother's womb, and functioning as a single organism.
In this way, four, eight, sixteen, thirty-two, sixty-four... and countless more... they divide in multiples, adhere to each other, and gradually grow larger, repeating the ancestral forms, from the single-celled microorganism that was humanity's first ancestor to humans, in the correct order of their evolution, without fail, within the mother's womb.
First, it takes the form of a fish.
Next, the front and back fins of that fish transform into four legs, changing into the form of a crawling amphibian.
Then, the image of a four-legged beast running powerfully is depicted.
And finally, it retracts its tail, lifts its front legs to form hands, and stands up and walks on its hind legs, evolving into the form of a human. It reaches the stage of a normal fetus and is born with a cry. Such a process is usually completed by everyone in roughly the same amount of time.
This is a fact already revealed in embryology, a phenomenon that no one can deny. However, if that is the case, why do all fetuses repeat such a laborious process of fetal development within the mother's womb? Why don't they immediately take the form of a small human and simply grow and be born? Also, why does the first single cell repeat this fetal development process without the slightest difference, as if everyone agreed? In other words,
"What made the fetus do that?"
When faced with this question, no one can provide an appropriate explanation. Even if you search modern science books from cover to cover, this explanation cannot be found. It has simply become something that can only be described as mysterious.
Next, every fetus, in this manner, unfailingly repeats the evolutionary forms of its ancestors in the correct sequence within the mother's womb. However, because the elapsed time is greatly shortened, the fetus may even repeat and pass through the forms of each era, in which human ancestors spent millions or even tens of millions of years transforming fins into limbs and scales into hair, in just a few minutes or seconds. This is already considered an inexplicable mystery, but what is even more interesting is that the ratio between this shortened time and the actual time required for evolution does not seem to be unreasonable.
In other words, a human fetus is supposed to repeat the evolutionary journey of its ancestors since primeval times over approximately ten months, but for other animals, the lower their degree of evolution, the shorter the time required for their gestation. Bacteria and other single-celled animals, which have the lowest degree of evolution, meaning they remain in their primeval forms, have almost no gestational period and simply divide into two new organisms in their existing form, which is the actual fact. Why is this, exactly? Why does the human fetus, which has the highest degree of evolution, require the longest gestational period? In other words,
"What makes the fetus do that?"
It becomes clear that attempting to provide an appropriate interpretation for this question is absolutely impossible with modern scientific knowledge. Indeed, there is no way to explain it other than to simply call it a mystery.
The above are examples of inexplicable phenomena concerning the fetus, but next, when we research and observe the human "body" thus formed from an anatomical perspective, many similar inexplicable phenomena emerge.
Observing the human body from the surface, one can immediately see that it is far more noble and graceful than other animals, precisely because of its higher degree of evolution. From its gentle yet dignified facial features, beautiful skin, aesthetically balanced skeletal structure, and musculature, it truly appears to be the paragon of all creation. However, once the epidermis of that body is peeled back, the flesh separated, the internal organs examined, and the contents of the brain and five senses dissected and observed in detail, it becomes clear that the composition of each part is a "hand-me-down" from the living organs of ancestors who evolved from lower animals. Even in the shape of a single tooth or the structure of a strand of hair, a history of natural selection and struggle for survival spanning an astonishingly long period is etched, and the great and profound mnemonic function of the existence that repeatedly evolved the fetal form to complete the human form, commemorating each step of that history, is clearly inscribed in every corner of the completed human cell.
Such phenomena are clearly proven in evolutionary theory, genetics, and anatomy, so a detailed explanation will be omitted here. However, who exactly remembered this and caused such a history to repeat?
"What made the fetus do that?"
No explanation has yet been given for this. It remains something that can only be described as simply mysterious.
Furthermore, that is not all.
Taking one more step to observe the human mind, these facts are further profoundly substantiated.
The human spirit, too, when observed from the surface, exhibits a beauty incomparably superior to that of other animals. Humans cover their spiritual life with a so-called "human skin"—a self-awareness of being "the paragon of animals" or what could be called "cultural pride"—and adorn it with the cosmetics of common sense and personality, displaying a detached attitude. However, once that outer layer, that human skin, is peeled away, what emerges beneath is an astonishingly clear revelation: the distant microbial ancestors of humans, having been forged into present-day humans, passed down their vigilance against the great persecutions of natural selection and the struggle for survival over an incredibly long period, or rather, their struggle-for-survival psychology, as the animal psychology of that era, directly inherited.
First, if one peels away the outer layer of the so-called cultured person—the human skin embellished with philanthropy, benevolence, justice, humanity, and etiquette—what emerges beneath is the psychological life of a barbarian or primitive human.
Innocent children best prove this fact. Children, who are not yet acquainted with the surface of culture, exhibit the characteristics of ancient peoples who were similarly unacquainted with the surface of culture. For example, picking up a stick and wanting to play war games is due to the inheritance of the so-called warlike nature of primitive humans, who survived through warfare between tribes and clans. The instinctive memories of barbaric times, latent within the cells, are stimulated and awakened by the suggestion of a stick, which resembles a weapon.
Furthermore, chasing after insects for no reason is a remnant of the hunting era's psychology, where one wanted to chase anything that moved. And finding joy in catching insects, tearing off their limbs, plucking their wings, and roasting them over fire is nothing less than a reenactment of the memory of the ancient peoples' cruelty, as they disposed of, toyed with, and humiliated their prey and captives to satisfy their sense of victory and superiority.
Furthermore, a baby crying when placed in a dark place is because primitive humans from the era before fire recall their fear of darkness filled with wild beasts and venomous snakes, and urinating and defecating anywhere is a reproduction of habits from the time they slept among tree roots and grass. This is also explained by modern advanced psychological research.
Next, if we peel off the skin of this barbarian or primitive human, we will find that beneath it, the nature of a beast, that is, an animal, overflows.
For example, when unfamiliar men or women meet for the first time, they exchange human-like greetings, but inwardly, they show a psychological state of strangely narrowing their eyes at each other and sniffing around the other person. If they let their guard down, they might even pay attention to the other person's rear, and upon finding a subtle unpleasant point, they hint at a desire to wrinkle their noses or bare their teeth at each other. If they are careless, they might bark and bite. This is exactly the same psychology as dogs and cats meeting at a street corner.
Also, when one finds someone weaker, one feels like teasing them a little, and one might think of killing someone who is a bit of an obstacle. If no one is around, one might think of stealing, or sniffing another's urine, or burying one's own waste... Such purely bestial psychology appears in various aspects of daily life. The curses "you beast" or "you animal" that everyone utters are nothing but this.
Next, if we cut open the diaphragm beneath this animal nature, then from underneath it, the psychology of insects swarms out.
For example, they try to climb to a higher place even if it means pushing aside their companions. They try to do something advantageous by crawling around where no one can see them. If they succeed, they immediately try to burrow into a safe hole. When they find something nutritious, they stealthily approach and try to parasitize it. They try to protect themselves by displaying unpleasant appearances or movements without caring about their surroundings. They try to hide in a hard shell to keep others away. When they find an enemy, they try to save only themselves, even at the expense of others. When push comes to shove, they brandish their stinger, squirt ink, spray urine, and emit a foul odor. Or they transform into surrounding objects or stronger beings... Such low-level and cowardly actions are a direct manifestation of insect instincts, and the derogatory terms in proverbs such as "coward," "maggot," "weevil," "crybaby," "blood fluke," "toilet bug," "farting bug," "centipede fellow," and "mosquito larva fellow" are nothing more than expressions of contempt referring to the inherited psychology from this insect-like era.
Finally, when we dissect the core of this insect psychology, that is, the core of animal psychology at the deepest part of human instinct, the psychology of protozoa, common to bacteria and other microorganisms, emerges. It is a way of moving that seems to live and move around meaninglessly, often expressed by so-called crowd psychology, trend psychology, and rubbernecking psychology. If we separate each of its actions, they seem completely meaningless, but when they gather, they cause terrifying effects similar to various bacteria. In other words, they flock to things that shine, things that are splendid, things with loud voices, things with simple logic, and things with clear stimuli, but of course, they have no judgment or understanding. Just like microorganisms under a microscope, they are unconscious and unprincipled, and the masses move forward, drawn by the crowd. There is meaningless excitement, pride, and a sense of security, but ultimately, they become engrossed in excitement without a second thought and readily throw away their lives... The way they fall into riots and revolutions is like sperm concentrating on a drop of malic acid.
It is only at this point that human psychology approaches the laws of motion and change in physics and chemistry. In other words, it comes to a point where it is but a hair's breadth from inanimate objects, and what politicians and those who make a living by seeking popularity exploit is none other than this fungoid outpouring at the core of human nature.
Our human mental life consists of taking the simplest and lowest elements within such psychology, wrapping them outwards with higher and more complex animal psychology, then further packaging them with what is called human skin, adorning them with ribbons and labels like social graces, appearances, status, lineage, reputation, and personality, applying makeup, sprinkling perfume, and strutting down the main street. However, upon dissecting its contents, we find that the majority, as mentioned earlier, are nothing more than a reproduction of the memories of animal psychology from successive generations of ancestors, latent within human cells. Yet, even this, similar to the anatomical observation of the physical body described earlier, leaves the question of "what made the fetus do it"—how the fetus managed to encapsulate such diverse and complex psychological memories within the subconscious and instincts of its cells—still unanswered.
There are matters that are completely unexplained. No, even the fact that the content of a single human mind is itself the trace of the evolution of all things over hundreds of millions of years is completely overlooked, covered by shallow conceit such as "humans are the lords of creation" or "I am a human being."
What has been discussed here are the mysterious phenomena concerning fetal growth, the adult body completed thereby, and the traces of the evolution of all things appearing in the mind. Next, let us observe the mysterious phenomenon of "dreams" that humans experience.
Dreams have long been considered symbols of mystery. If one encounters even a slightly unexpected event, they immediately wonder, "Is this not a dream?" While one might see all phenomena of the universe, no different from the real world, bizarre and unnatural landscapes or objects beyond imagination might appear. And while the laws of real psychology and physics might seem to apply in these landscapes, suddenly the scenery changes due to outlandish laws not found even in myths or legends. Many scholars have pondered the true nature of dreams, the psychology within them, and the laws governing changes in their imagery since ancient times. Here, I will present three important points to clarify the essence of dreams.
Firstly, events within dreams often exhibit extremely outlandish and inconsistent aspects as they unfold. In fact, such cases are overwhelmingly common, so it is quicker to consider such supernatural phenomena and irrational occurrences as dreams. Nevertheless, while dreaming, one rarely doubts these supernatural or irrational elements, and the emotions experienced from these events are always earnest, often more serious and poignant than in reality.
Secondly, landscapes never before seen or heard of, and astonishing natural disasters, can appear with the same sensation as if they were real.
Thirdly, modern science has proven that even if events appearing in a dream feel like continuous incidents spanning many years or decades, the time spent observing them is merely a few minutes, or even just a few seconds.
The various mysterious phenomena related to "fetuses" and "dreams" mentioned above have become major questions in the scientific community that no one can deny. However, when considering why these mysteries have not been solved to this day, and why no one has been able to find the key to their solution, there are two reasons.
One is that the conventional scholars' idea regarding human body cells, which cause humans to be born viviparously and then show dreams to the adults completed through that viviparous birth, is entirely wrong. The other is that humanity's general conception of "time" flowing through this universe is fundamentally mistaken.
In other words, the content of each individual cell that constitutes the human body is far greater than the content of the single human being who is its protagonist. No, it possesses content and performance so wonderfully great and complex that it can be compared to the entire universe. Therefore, the conventional materialistic scientific approach, which involves peering at the content of a single cell from its exterior with a microscope, chemically analyzing its components, and studying its division and reproduction through changes in form and color, cannot comprehend the greatness of the cell's content and performance. It is an unreasonable demand, akin to trying to ascertain the great character and performance of a hero or great person by merely observing the external appearance of their remains and dissecting their interior, while ignoring their achievements during their lifetime.
The same can be said for time. The time indicated by the Central Meteorological Observatory, the hands of our watches, and the rotation and revolution of the Earth and the sun is not true time. It is artificial time arbitrarily created by materialistic science, an illusory time, a fake time. If one can truly understand the fact that true time is not such a restrictive, rigid thing that can be measured by dimensions, but something far more adaptable, profound, and mysterious, then one should simultaneously be able to understand the reality of "the fetus's dream." It would be tantamount to holding the key to solving the mysteries of life and the universe.
